The Hobbit fans, you are in for a double treat!
After teasing the fans with a 15-second long pre-teaser trailer, Warner Bros has surprised the fans once again with a new poster and a teaser trailer for “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies”.
As compared to the first poster, released during SDCC 2014, the new poster is less scary as Bilbo Baggins (played by Martin Freeman) is seen kneeling while holding his sword, Sting. However, the accompanying headline, “The Defining Chapter”, does make it sound a little sad.
On top of that, we had to watch the teaser trailer with a heavy heart as it started with Bilbo’s monologue:
“One day I’ll remember. Remember everything that happened here – the good, the bad, those who survived and those that did not.”
Pippin’s song, which was previously featured in, “The Lord of The Rings: Return of The King”, was used as the background music of teaser trailer and it perfectly depicts the heartbreaking scenes that we can expect to see from the final film of “The Hobbit” trilogy.
Let’s not forget that the film is expected to include an epic battle between the 5 armies and the Orcs as well as Smaug the Dragon. The Elven king Thranduil (played by Lee Pace) will be involved in the war too as he will be leading his Elven force to run after the Orc chieftain Azog and his army.
What surprised us the most in the teaser was when the eye of Sauron was shown briefly in the teaser trailer as well. Just in case you don’t remember (although we don’t see a reason why), the eye of Sauron was featured in “The Lord of The Rings” trilogy as an evil force ready to rise and become the next biggest threat in the Middle-Earth.
So, it’s a really short teaser trailer but we are more than happy to have been given a sneak peek into the film. We just can’t wait for its release!
Watch:
Since this is the last “The Hobbit” film, did you find yourself having to hold back your tears while watching the teaser trailer? Because we did.
Meanwhile, “The Hobbit” cast e.g. Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch will return to their Sherlock TV series for a Christmas special next year. Sir Ian McKellen, on the other hand, will portray an elderly Sherlock Holmes in the novel-turned-film “Mr Holmes” (originally title: “A Slight Trick of the Mind”).
UPDATE (7th Nov):
The battle between the five armies has officially begun! After releasing a rather emotional teaser trailer of “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (as seen above), Warner Bros. has now released the official main trailer.
Although Benedict Cumberbatch’s Smaug is the main antagonist, the focus is still on the battle started by the stubborn Dwarves king, Thorin (played by Richard Armitage). Why didn’t Bilbo (played by Martin Freeman) try to stop him, you ask? Of course he did! But he failed to prevent him from doing so because Thorin wants war.
