Come November, a film based on the story of the most brilliant and celebrate physicist of our time will shed light on what he really went through in life.

“The Theory of Everything”, starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, is an British biopic-drama based on the life of Stephen Hawking. It also chronicles the relationship between Hawking (played by Eddie Redmayne) and his wife, Jane (played by Felicity Jones), from his early development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a motor-neuron disease, to his success in physics.

Directed by James Marsh, the British film-maker behind Man on Wire and Shadow Dancer, the film is due to be screened in the special presentations section at the upcoming Toronto international film festival. It was said that Jane Wilde’s memoir, “Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen” served as inspiration for the film.

The description that accompanied the official movie trailer reads as such:

Little was expected from Stephen Hawking, a bright but shiftless student of cosmology, given just two years to live following the diagnosis of a fatal illness at 21 years of age. He became galvanized, however, by the love of fellow Cambridge student, Jane Wilde, and he went on to be called the successor to Einstein, as well as a husband and father to their three children. Over the course of their marriage as Stephen’s body collapsed and his academic renown soared, fault lines were exposed that tested the lineaments of their relationship and dramatically altered the course of both of their lives.

As for the debut trailer, well, try to hold back your tears as you watch it:
