After Fox TV announced the plan to develop a live-action “X-Men” TV series, its sister production company 20th Century Fox debuted the 1st teaser trailer for the upcoming superhero film, “The Fantastic Four”.

Directed by Josh Trank (of “Chronicles” fame), “Fantastic Four” is a reboot of the Fantastic Four film franchise and the 3rd “Fantastic Four” movie to be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Fantastic Four

Trank directed the film based on a screenplay co-written by Michael Green, Jeremy Slatter, Simon Kinberg (of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” fame), and Seth Grahame-Smith. Akiva Goldsman was attached to produce the film alongside Matthew Vaughn and Kinberg.

Set to take place in the same universe as the “X-Men” film series, “Fantastic Four” offers a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team. The plot centres on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

The cast is as follows:

  • Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
  • Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch
  • Kate Mara as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman
  • Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing
  • Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom
  • Reg E.Cathey as Dr. Franklin Stom
  • Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder/The Mole Man

The story is said to be based on the “Ultimate Fantastic Four” comics, which was written by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Millar with Joe Kubert illustrating. It explores the origin in more depth and from a fresh modern angle.
