Movie Tea: Robert Pattinson & James Gunn On “The Batman Part II” Delays; “Fast X: Part 2” Filming Period Announced

As long as an in-production film is not yet released, nothing is final, regardless of what stage of development it’s in. Hollywood has experienced several massive shake ups in recent times, resulting in a large number of films being placed on hold, if not outright cancelled.

However, we know of two highly-anticipated movies that are officially on their way. All you have to do is be patient.

Robert Pattinson & James Gunn Speak Up About “The Batman Part II” Delays

It should come as a surprise to no one that Warner Bros. has been dropping the ball with a lot of its recent titles. One title or project in particular that fans are hoping won’t get dropped is “The Batman Part II” starring Robert Pattinson. Not only that, but the “Mickey 17” actor expressed his desire to not play an elderly Caped Crusader.

“I f*cking hope so,” was the only response Pattinson gave when asked if the upcoming highly-anticipated sequel will start filming soon. While speaking to “Mickey 17” co-star Naomi Ackie for Hero Magazine, Pattinson added that “I started out as young Batman, and I’m going to be f*cking old Batman by the sequel.”

Warner Bros. has put a lot of projects on hold, leaving the great majority of its endeavours unfinished for the foreseeable future. This includes the previously-mentioned Batman sequel. Though the company announced at CinemaCon back in April 2022 that the film will be released by 2025, it has repeatedly been pushed back – from 2026, to the most recent bump of 2027.

The British actor then added, “I’m 38. I’m old. I’m old, but I’m healthier. I think I’ve actually brought my biological age down a bit.”

The delay was confirmed in a Threads post by CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, who said: “The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script… [director] Matt [Reeves] is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write. Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting and post-production on big films.”

In a more recent post, The “Guardians of the Galaxy” director explained that the gaps between sequels is quite common. He then listed several examples, such as “7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years between Incredibles. 7 years between the first two Terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns. And, of course, 6 years between Guardians Vol 2 and Vol 3.”

However, rest assured that the sequel will not be cancelled, as it will have some relation to the hit “The Penguin” series. In a discussion with Entertainment Weekly, Reeves said that there will be a time gap between the two films, with the TV series happening in between. Reeves further emphasised the importance of this by saying, “Oz does become one of the entry points into the movie. I can’t tell you where it goes from there, except to say that we’re super excited about it.”

Vin Diesel Reveals “Fast X: Part 2” Update & Other Movie Plans

After a two-year-long pause, the sequel to this high-octane film franchise is finally on its way. The news broke when Vin Diesel himself provided the filming update on Instagram, where he shared not only the fate of the “Fast & Furious” franchise, but of other major titles as well.

In the post, Diesel shared a massive update on all his ongoing and upcoming projects, stating that there is a plan to shoot “Fast X: Part 2” in Los Angeles later this year. “In between juggling this crazy schedule for the year,” he said. “We continue the fight to bring Fast X2, the finale, back to LA this summer!” He has more updates for other films, such as the “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots” movie, “xXx,” “The Last Witch Hunter,” and a Groot film.

However, many are quite sceptical over the “Fast X Part 2” claim, as it was done seemingly in passing, especially considering the massive franchise it hails from. Furthermore, with the franchise nearing its 25th anniversary as well as Diesel’s own cryptic postings of late, many have surmised that the sequel is already well underway.

Though Diesel confirmed that they intend to release the film on the 25th anniversary of the franchise (sometime in mid to late 2026), it is unclear how the story will play out. Previously, the MCU star stated that he has “Comcast in [his] ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale!” Whether this is the aforementioned 2-parter finale or not, we’re finally happy and positively curious to see how this cliffhanger story will end.
