Movie Tea: Robert Eggers Plans 13th Century Werewolf Thriller; “Invincible Season 3” Cast Revealed

Get ready to paint the town red with our hot tea on these “bloody” good shows.

From a horrifying new werewolf movie, to a heart-pounding animated action series – here’s what you need to know about two upcoming shows.

“Invincible Season 3” Adds 9 More A-List Celebs To Cast

“Invincible Season 3” is just around the corner, which means a whole new wave of actors and actresses is joining the fray. In preparation for perhaps the bloodiest and darkest season of the entire series (so far), Amazon Prime Video has added Aaron Paul, Simu Liu, Jonathan Banks, Kate Mara , Xolo Maridueña, John DiMaggio, Tzi Ma, Doug Bradley, and Christian Convery to the show’s already star-studded lineup.

Robert Kirkman’s hit comic-turned-animated series will feature a wider range of characters, and though they might seem like they’ve been shoehorned into the story in order to progress the plot, that’s not the case. Believe it or not, each of these characters will actually be the catalysts for Steven Yeun’s Mark Grayson to become a more ruthless, almost anti-hero character in the story.

First on our list is Mark’s younger half-brother, Oliver Grayson, who is voiced by Christian Convery (Henry from “Cocaine Bear”). Due to being half-Thraxan and half-Viltrumite, he quickly develops into a superhero like his brother and joins Invincible, but with a tendency to take things too far. One of the antagonists the duo will soon face off against is Aaron Paul’s Scott Duvall/Powerplex, a new, albeit minor antagonist who is capable of absorbing energy from anything, allowing him to use his enemy’s strength against them. He has a deep hatred for Invincible, blaming him for the death of his sister during his fight with Omni-Man. He is paired with Kate Mara’s Becky Duvall, Scott’s wife, who shares a similar hatred and actually spurs her husband to bring them justice they were denied.

Next is the Elephant, who is voiced by John DiMaggio (Jake the Dog from “Adventure Time”), a minor antagonist who wears an elephant costume and shares the qualities of said animal. Contrasting with this is Mr. Liu, voiced by Tzi Ma (Haiyan Wang from “The Farewell), a seemingly wizened old man who’s actually in charge of a massive criminal organisation with a nasty trick up his sleeve.

The following actor is a two-for-one, and that’s Xolo Maridueña’s (Jaime Reyes from “Blue Beetle”) Fightmaster and Dropkick, identical twin freedom fighters from the future who recruit Invincible’s help to alter the course of history. Last on the confirmed list is Simu Liu’s Multi-Paul, Kate’s twin brother, who’s also an elite assassin hellbent on taking revenge on Rexplode, believing that he was the reason his sister died.

That’s not all. According to IGN, Jonathan Banks (Mike Ehrmantraut from “Breaking Bad”) has been cast in an undisclosed role. Many on social media have begun theorising that he will bring the ruthless and sadistic Viltrumite, Conquest, to life. If not, then he is the likely candidate for the leader of the Viltrum Empire himself, Grand Regent Thragg.

Robert Eggers To Go Old School With “Werwulf”

Source: IMDb

Hot off the heels of “Nosferatu,” Robert Eggers has co-written a new thriller movie called “Werwulf,” an exciting project that will be his next feature film. Not only that, but Focus Features, Universal’s art house division that helped create the highly-popular vampire horror film, is back in business to realise Eggers’ vision.

The legendary horror director co-wrote the script alongside Sjón, who also wrote “The Northman.” Being a newly announced development, details on the collaborative project are scarce, to say the least. What we do know is that, aside from the creature and film’s name, the story is set in 13th-century England. For language purists, you’d be happy to know that the script features dialogue that is true to the time period, but also has some translations and annotations for those who aren’t overly familiar with Old English.

Though it isn’t much, the use of Old English actually clues us in on what to expect from the film. We can expect this to not only be in the same vein as “Nosferatu,” but perhaps supersede it in terms of promising another violent and muddy costumed horror film. Chris and Eleanor Columbus, who worked with Eggers on “Nosferatu,” will executive produce. All parties are hoping for another Christmas release in 2026, so get cosy as something truly chilling is about to drop.
