The Scream franchise is screaming along with its seventh instalment on the horizon. News on the latest sequel has been dropping in dribs and drabs, but we now know cast members that are coming back, and those who are making their debut in the cult horror franchise.

Meanwhile, the live action “Moana” has given us an eyeful with leaked behind-the-scenes images of its stars in full costume.

From a legend playing an iconic Disney role, to cast members ready to Scream for a seventh outing – here’s your daily dose of movie tea:

Neve Campbell Returns For “Scream 7”; Sidney Prescott’s Daughter Revealed

It’s no secret that horror films have been absolute killers as of late, especially in 2024. And dedicated fans of the genre know it’s only going to get better from here on. We’ve previously covered the Wayans brothers returning to create the now-highly anticipated “Scream 7” and how it might be a return to form.

With the return of the original minds behind the film’s creation, it’s only right that the franchise’s original screen queen retakes her throne. Following her controversial absence from “Scream VI,” Neve Campbell returns to the set to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott.

This is a much appreciated change after she previously declined being in “Scream VI.” In an interview with Deadline, the actress stated that “As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”

Little is known about the upcoming sequel, but it will likely focus on Sidney after Campbell went missing in the previous entry. The plot further thickens as Isabel May, known for her role as Elsa Dutton in the American miniseries “1883” and “1923,” will join the cast as Neve Campbell’s daughter. This not only hints at a larger overarching plot for both the story and the main protagonist, but also some family-related drama between the mother and daughter.

Of course, with more and more information slowly drip-fed to us, fans are still wondering if we’ll see more of the cast, namely Patrick Dempsey’s Mark Kincaid. However, “Scream” lovers must wait for the answers, as the filmmakers have kept their lips tightly sealed for now.

First Look At The Live-Action “Moana”

It goes without saying that “Moana” is one of the more popular films of the mid-2010’s. It has raked in roughly US$687.2 million at the box office and set the stage for its upcoming sequel. However, it was such an unprecedented success that it prompted Disney to create a live-action remake as well.

Naturally, it was a hotly-contested decision, as the original movie isn’t even ten years old yet. Furthermore, it was announced at a time when Disney was busy preserving its incalculable intellectual property by creating bland live-action remakes of beloved titles. However, despite the internet’s protest, the company has still pushed ahead with its decision. Evidence of that are recently-leaked images of the crew on set.

Out of all the cast, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to reprise his role as the beloved demigod Maui. Despite his age, the 52-year-old actor looks stunning as he rocks his long, luscious locks, full body tattoos, and the iconic magic fish hook.

Furthermore, the actor has physically trained his body as a means of honouring the original Maui, who is known for his bulk in comparison to the movie’s other characters. Aside from behind-the-scenes images, videos of the former wrestler acting alongside his co-star, Catering Laga’aia, have also been leaked over on X.

An additional wave of behind-the-scenes videos have been leaked on social media, such as the crew testing Moana’s canoe for their high seas adventure, as well as a detailed image of Maui’s fishing hook. The upcoming remake is set to hit theatres on 10th July, 2026
