Movie News: Krypto’s Inclusion In “Superman” 2025 Explained; Wayans Brothers Back For “Scary Movie” Reboot

We’ve got the lowdown on the latest Hollywood movie news, especially much-awaited upcoming big screen flicks.

From the heartwarming story of (Super)man’s best friend, to an epic throwback to delight spoof film lovers – here’s what’s happening in the world of cinema.

Inspiration Behind Krypto The Superdog

From his first appearance on the big screen back in the 50’s all the way till now, Superman has captured and played with the minds and imaginations of those who beheld him. Though he has incredible powers, he still uses them for good. However, for all his strength, it is an incredibly heavy burden for him to carry it all, and thus he is in need of a best friend. Enter Krypto.

That’s right, this Kryptonian dog will be joining Clark Kent in James Gunn’s “Superman” (2025). Though this super pet has been with us in the comic pages since 1955, the upcoming film will mark his first ever live-action appearance, and for good reason. Bringing a child-friendly character into a potentially serious film might cause some tonal contrasts that could drag the whole thing down. Which is why James Gunn drew inspiration from his very own super dog.

Back on 15th October, Gunn released the first-ever official image of the super dog Krypto sitting right beside David Corenswet, the latest in a long line of actors to don the signature “S” symbol. At the same time, the famous screenwriter shared a heartwarming story about his own dog, Ozu, and how he became the inspiration and perhaps even the reason for Krypto’s inclusion in the film.

Gunn posted the official motion photo of the up-coming film on X – including a comic panel which serves as the inspiration for the motion photo, and an image of Gunn and Ozu.  In the same post, Gunn reveals the reason for the heroic canine’s inclusion to the story.

Besides Corenswet, Krypto will star alongside a long list of decorated actors, such as  Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Milly Alcock (Supergirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Sean Gunn  (Maxwell Lord), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), María Gabriela de Faría (Angela Spica), Frank Grillo (Rick Flag, Sr.), Wendell Pierce (Perry White), Beck Bennett (Steve Lombard), and Christopher Reeve’s son Will Reeve in an undisclosed cameo.

“Superman” is slated for release on 11th July, 2025.

Scary Movie Reboot By The Wayans Brothers

The early 2000s were a crazy year for movies. It was also the era of spoof or parody films, and none were as historic or memorable as the first ever “Scary Movie” flick. It set the precedent for films for the entire decade. Which is why those who revelled in those early 2000s spoof films are in for a treat, as Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans are back to bring us a rebooted “Scary Movie.”

According to Deadline, the trio of brothers will be co-writing and co-producing the upcoming reboot for Miramax. The film is said to be a return to form, as it will feature a variety of other horror films, perhaps more recent ones, that will be spoofed for our amusement.

Marlon broke the big news on Instagram with an image of him and Ghostface standing side-by-side. The caption of said post reads, “Last week i said i had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is… WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”

The head of Miramax, Jonathan Glickman, stated that “the timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen… [the studio is] lucky to have Kennen, Marlon, and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.”

The new “Scary Movie” is slated to go into production some time next year. Despite the exciting news, the brothers and the rest of the crew have not disclosed who else might be returning to the franchise or whether there will be some new faces tagging along.
