Insecurities are the worst. Although, it is perfectly normal, as long as you don’t let it get to you. However, when it does, that can sometimes break the bonds you have with those close to you.
A person’s insecurity can even go to the extent of cutting people off from one’s life because of the unnecessary internal inferiority. Just like how this Germany-based model got uninvited from her own best friend’s wedding!
A TikTok video from Alena Yildiz, went viral recently not because of her beauty that has gained her likes and followers on her Instagram account, but because netizens were flabbergasted at how insecure Alena’s best friend is.
It’s a normal occasion for brides to pick her bridesmaids’ outfits for the wedding. No one likes to be outshone during their own wedding. However, in Alena’s case, her outfit was picked by the bride herself, and the bride was still unsatisfied. Especially after seeing pictures of her trying the blue-sequinned dress on. The 21-year-old Turkish model stated in the TikTok video, “My close friend uninvited me to her wedding because she thought I looked too good in the dress SHE chose for me.”
The TikTok video has gained more than 3 million likes and more than 16 thousand comments. A netizen commented, “I mean, she (is) kinda right. You can’t come like that (to) my wedding and expect me not to run away with you. Like at that point, I’m marrying you.” While another TikTok user stated, “People who are saying she’s trying to outshine the bride clearly (has) never been to an Arab/North African wedding. BTW, you look fire girl!” to which she responded, “That’s what I’m saying! Dressing like that to a wedding is literally the standard in our culture?!”
Despite the support given by most in her comments section, there were still some who empathised with the bride, like this TikTok user, “Yes, you look great in it.. But honestly, I understand your friend.. I would respect it and pick another dress.. It’s her day and (it’s) mean to outshine her.” Alena refuted the statement with her side of the story, “I get what you mean, but she uninvited me right before the wedding so there wasn’t even time to get a new one. (So), I just stayed home.”
Some comments also said how she was just fishing for compliments and was just trying to find a reason to post pictures of her in said dress.
And, netizens being netizens, they somehow managed to find the social media account of the bride. Or so they thought. However, Alena stated yesterday (26th December) on her Instagram story and her TikTok, that the woman they attacked isn’t her friend.
It was just a coincidence that her bridesmaids were wearing the same dress as her. She stated, “I don’t know that woman! She’s an Australian woman, I’m from Germany!”
