A female Uber driver was molested by a foreign passenger in Taman Kesidang, Melaka at 1:30pm on Tuesday (11th July).
The 23-year-old victim, who lodged a report at the Tengkera police station an hour after the incident, claimed that the suspect grabbed her left hand and kissed her while paying the fare.
According to The Star, she picked up the man at Bukit Beruang. Upon reaching his destination, he refused to step out of the car and molested the woman.
Apparently, the suspect also tried to persuade her to go on a date with him and promised to take good care of her. However, the Uber driver refused and demanded that he get out of the car.
The report added that Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Afnizar Ahmad confirmed receiving the report.
In other Uber related crime news, a pregnant passenger was abandoned by the side of the road after being robbed by her Uber driver in May. The 22-year-old suspect from Kedah was arrested at the Pagoh R&R in Johor a few days later.
Besides that, an Uber driver in Selangor was nabbed for a robbery case involving 2 teenage victims.
