We are now officially in phase 4 of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period in Malaysia.

As of today (Wednesday, 29th April), the public are now allowed to leave the house in pairs to shop for daily essentials or to get medical services.

This is in accordance to a new federal gazette on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (No.4) Regulations 2020, which was signed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

Prior to this, individuals weren’t allowed to leave the house with more than 1 person. Don’t get it twisted though, couples shouldn’t use this as an excuse to go out dating. The person may only be accompanied by another family member living in the same house when buying necessities.

Besides that, the public will still need to adhere to 10km-radius limit when leaving the house. Those caught disobeying the regulations are liable to a maximum fine of RM1,000 or jail for up to 6 months, or both.

The amended Government Gazette takes affect today and will carry on until 12th May, unless MCO is extended yet again.
