“Captain America: Civil War” directors Joe and Anthony Russo aka the Russo brothers have confirmed that the next 2 Avengers films will be retitled. Yup, the ones that are currently being referred to as “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1” and “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2”.
Reason?
The brothers said that it’s because the current titles give the “misleading” impression that the films are closely connected. In a discussion with Uproxx, Joe revealed, “The movies are two very different movies.”
“The intention is we will change it; we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them,” he added.
The Russo brothers first made their Marvel debut with 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. The film was met with critical acclaim, with Rotten Tomatoes singing high praises about it:
Suspenseful and politically astute, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is a superior entry in the Avengers canon and is sure to thrill Marvel diehards.
More recently, sibling directing duo made another formidable impression in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with “Captain America: Civil War”. So it’s safe to say that they have beyond high expectations to meet for “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1” and “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2”.

In other news, the Russo brothers may have also just confirmed Captain Marvel for “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1”.
Captain Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers, is an air force pilot whose DNA was merged with an alien after an accident. The resulting alteration suffuses her with the super powers of strength, energy project, and even fly to space. In addition, she also served NASA and The Air Force, as well as various incarnations of The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Last we checked, we’re only due to see Captain Marvel on 8th March 2019 when her solo film is released.
But in speaking about “Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1” during an event at the Smithsonian Institute, the Russo brothers (perhaps accidentally-on-purpose) mentioned Captain Marvel by name. A fan quickly pounced, asking, “Did you just confirm Captain Marvel?” To which the brothers replied, “Um….Captain Barvel. Totally different character.”
Oops? 😉
