Claw machines are often considered a “scam” as you tend to spend a lot of money, but don’t always win a prize. As such, netizens are in two minds about this man who allegedly “cheated” to get his reward from one such machine.

As everyone knows, snagging a prize from a claw machine can be very tricky. Yet, much to the shopkeeper’s dismay, a customer recently came up with their own trick to score a reward from the machine. However, while some have sided with the clever customer, others aren’t too happy either!

As caught on the store’s CCTV, a young man was spotted trying his luck with a claw machine at a store. However, right as the claw picked up the stuffed toy, the man grabbed the top of machine and tilted it forward, causing the claw to swing and drop its prize into the hole. He tried the trick thrice, but only won a prize twice as he mistimed tilting the machine during the second time.

The CCTV recorded the incident occurring at 8:40pm on 15th February, however, the location of the store was not revealed. But, the store owner reportedly later uploaded the footage to social media, allegedly incensed by the man’s behaviour. They claimed that customers should be prepared to lose if they wanted to play. The exclamation was met with mixed reactions by netizens.

Some claimed it was fair as claw machines were often rigged to automatically release their prizes, which many perceived as “cheating”. Others however opined that the man had “stolen” from the store, even urging the owner to report the matter to the police. A few disagreed, pointing out that the man had paid to play, despite him using his trick on the machine.

Well, there’s no denying that claw machines can get frustrating, especially after multiple tries without anything to show for it. This young man clearly wanted his prize and was willing to pull out all stops for it. But, was he right to do so? Or should he stick to the unspoken rules of the game?
