They called her the “Mother Teresa” of animals, and she was known for being the country’s pioneer animal rescuer. She founded the animal sanctuary, Furry Friends Farm (FFF) in Rawang and she was also an animal inspector with the Selangor Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
If that didn’t ring a bell, then perhaps you would remember her best for rescuing dogs that were dumped on a mangrove island a little off Klang, by Pulau Ketam residents not too long ago.
An orphan, Sabrina Yeap devoted her life and made it her personal mission to saving cats and dogs, and promoting animal rights. She was wholly dedicated to putting the animals first and herself last – always. But her good deeds didn’t stop there.
The animals that she rescued and trained went under the “Dr. Dog” programme, which is an animal-assisted programme that used dogs to bring cheer to less fortunate children and the elderly. It was because of her bursting “resume” as an activist and animal lover that she gained a huge following of fans and friends.
But on Monday night, Sabrina slipped into a coma and she never woke up. She then passed away from leukemia at the Sungai Buloh Hospital a few hours later. She was 49 years old.
The country has lost one of its greatest rescue heroes. Friends who want to pay their last respect can do so at Parlour No. 13 at the Nirvana Memorial Centre in Jalan Sg Besi. The cremation is scheduled at 10am tomorrow (Friday) at the Nirvana Memorial Park in Shah Alam and her ashes will be interned at the Semenyih Nirvana Memorial Park.
