There’s always been a debate on which smartphones are better but regardless of the brand, all phones basically have more or less the same functions. Most people wouldn’t care much about the latest camera technology or apps that are only accessible on certain devices, but what if there were differences in prices of items or services depending on the device you’re using?

This Malaysian was booking a flight for a family member and was definitely surprised to find out that the baggage fee was not consistent on all devices. Apparently, the cost of the fee depends on what device you’re using to book your flight.

Over the weekend, a netizen who goes by Kelvin Liew posted on Facebook something he recently discovered while he was booking an AirAsia flight from Johor to Kuching for his mother-in-law. The flight ticket itself cost about RM209 but the baggage fee, however, was not the same on different devices.

As seen in the photos above, on an iPhone, the flight charges RM79.86 for 20kg baggage but on an HONOR X9B, the fee costs RM55. Confused, the man tried booking the same flight on a computer and although the ticket price remained the same, the baggage fee on a desktop was RM63.25 for 20kg. The post garnered attention from netizens who were all perplexed by the differences.

Some decided to not question it and advised Kelvin to just book the flight with the HONOR phone as it was cheaper. Others tried booking flights on their devices and showed the results of their findings. A few were genuinely curious about why the fee on iPhones was more expensive with one netizen suggesting that iPhones have always had “hidden charges” unknown to the users.

We’re also just as confused as everyone else and currently, it is unknown if AirAsia themselves are aware of this situation. After checking the airline’s baggage policy, there was no mention of different prices on different devices and we are unsure if this could also happen when booking with a different airline. Why do you think this is the case?
