Before the film is released locally in Malaysia, it is already making waves internationally.
“Fly by Night”, a much-anticipated film by debutant Malaysian director Zahir Omar was recently screened at the 2019 New York Asian Film Festival after making its first U.S. premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2019.
The movie is slated to be released in Malaysia on 11th April 2019, but even before its local premiere, the movie has already traveled to various part of the world.
Last year, the movie made its debut at the prestigious 23rd Busan International Film Festival 2018, having been selected as one of the 6 feature film projects to receive the Post Production Fund from Asian Cinema Fund (ACF).
The movie also received recognition in Macau when it was selected to be featured at the 3rd edition of the International Film Festival & Awards Macao (IFFAM) in the new competitive section for Chinese language films and was also screened at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival.

Featuring a stellar line-up of cast including Sunny Pang, Bront Palarae, Jack Tan, Fabian Loo and Eric Chen, the movie tells the tale about a group of taxi drivers and small-time extortionists who are forced to escalate their criminal activities to pay off debts.
“The movie draws inspiration on the notion of ‘Nothing is what it seems’. It gives a fresh outlook on the possible double lives of the people we meet, specifically cab drives whom we entrust in taking us from one point to another without really knowing who they truly are,” said director Zahir Omar.
