Many Malaysians would be familiar with singer Tan Kheng Seong (陈庆祥), better known as Aniu/Ah Niu (阿牛), from his 2010 romantic comedy, “Ice Kacang Puppy Love” (初恋红豆冰). Recently, the singer shocked fans after there were rumours that he secretly remarried.
According to China Press, the singer recently made multiple visits to a Buddhist temple to work on his new song, “Nebula (星云)”. A monk associated with the temple then shared about Aniu’s visits but also let it slip that the 48-year-old has secretly tied the knot with an unnamed woman. In the posts, the monk referred to the woman as “Aniu’s wife”, indirectly revealing their relationship. The monk also referred to the couple as “Aniu and his wife”, adding to the allegations.

However, it’s unknown if the singer actually remarried, but an insider has revealed the woman’s identity as Rachel Ten (鄧麗君), a former Wanita MCA Central Committee member. The news outlet has contacted Aniu and his assistant for more information but hasn’t received a response. Meanwhile, netizens have shared their reactions on social media, congratulating Aniu on his marriage and wishing the couple happiness.
Aniu’s first marriage was to his Taiwanese girlfriend, Shui Hsiang-Chi (水祥祈), with whom they had a daughter. The singer announced his marriage in 2000, and the pair had a quiet wedding ceremony. However, there were rumours that the two had marital problems and lived separately. Meanwhile, their daughter was raised in Malaysia by Aniu’s parents. The two would later divorce in 2010, but the star didn’t publicly disclose the split until 2012.

As Aniu has remained single since his divorce, the rumours of his new wife were well-received by his fans. If the rumours are indeed true, we’d like to congratulate Aniu on his new love. What are your thoughts on this?
