#Malaysia: Bangladeshi Man Beaten Up For Raping Teen In Cyber Cafe Toilet

Late yesterday (19th February, Friday) pictures and videos of a man with a lot of blood streaming down his head and body were making its rounds on social media.

It was later reported that the man, a Bangladeshi, was beaten to a bloody pulp after he was caught molesting and raping 13-year-old girl in a cybercafe toilet.

Bangladeshi Rape Case Malaysia

The incident took place at a cyber cafe in Seri Rampai, Wangsa Maju.

The teenage girl had gone with her father to the cyber cafe in Rampai Business Park at about 10:30pm on Thursday (18th February). As her father engrossed himself in a video game while his daughter waited next to him, the 30-year-old Bangladeshi suspect, who was also in the cyber cafe, invited the teen to enter the toilet with him.

The Star Online quoted KL CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad as saying, “The victim followed him there and while in the toilet, she was molested and raped by the suspect.”

As the man raped the girl, he threatened her not to make a sound. The girl’s father then went looking for his daughter and found her being sexually assaulted. He retaliated by beating up the suspect with the help of the other customers at the cyber cafe.

“The suspect was beaten up by the father and customers in the cyber cafe. Police were called and we arrested the man. An ambulance also had to come to provide treatment for the man,” Zainuddin said.

The Bangladeshi man is being remanded for a week for a rape investigation. The case has been referred to the KL Sexual Crimes, Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Investigations Division (D11).

The above news garnered a mixed response from netizens, with some questioning the father’s parenting skills for bringing his daughter to the cyber cafe at night and making his daughter wait next to him while he plays his video game. Others “warned” that this is what’s to come should the government allow more foreign workers into the country.

Recently, Malaysia and Bangladesh announced an agreement to allow absorption of 1.5 million Bangladeshi nationals in stages over the next 3 years. The decision was met with protests and a public debate, with many questioning the need for more Bangladeshi workers when there are already so many undocumented workers in Malaysia.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said yesterday that Malaysia will suspend the hiring of foreign workers while the government reviews the programme. The announcement came less than 24 hours after Putrajaya had signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh.
