Fans mourn the loss of Bernard Hill, known for his iconic roles in “Lord of the Rings” and “Titanic”. Tributes are pouring in for the late actor, who sadly passed away at age 79 yesterday (Sunday, 5th June). His agent confirmed the news of his passing, revealing that the actor had been due to speak at Liverpool Comic Con but had to withdraw due to his partner’s illness. He passed away with his fiancee Alison and his son Gabriel by his side.

Among those paying tribute are his “Lord Of The Rings” co-stars Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, and Billy Boyd, who portrayed the four lead hobbits in the epic trilogy. Speaking at Comic-con in Liverpool, Sean fondly remembered Bernard Hill as “intrepid, funny, gruff, and irascible,” while Billy praised his unparalleled delivery of Tolkien’s words, adding that their castmate’s performances would “break his heart”.

Elijah Wood took to social media to express his sorrow, describing the veteran celeb as a “gentle heart” and a “great king” who rose out of the shadows to a “last fair morning.” Dominic Monaghan shared a poignant photo taken by Viggo Mortensen, captioning it with a reference to Bernard Hill’s iconic character, the Broken King, passing to the Grey Havens.

Bernard Hill’s passing is not only a loss to the entertainment world but also to his colleagues and fans who admired his immense talent and dedication to his craft. As fans and celebs mourn the loss of a true cinematic legend, they remember the actor’s contributions to the art form and the countless lives touched by his performances.

Prior to his Hollywood successes, Bernard Hill made a name for himself in British television with his role as Yosser Hughes in the acclaimed miniseries “Boys From the Blackstuff.” His portrayal of the unemployed and downtrodden Hughes earned him widespread acclaim and set the stage for a remarkable career.

While Bernard Hill’s portrayal of King Theoden in “The Lord Of The Rings” remains his most iconic role, his performances as Captain Edward Smith in “Titanic” also left a lasting impression on audiences, showcasing his versatility as an actor. As fans continue to mourn the loss of Bernard Hill, his legacy as a talented and beloved actor will endure through his timeless performances on screen.

As seen from the screenshots above, fans have flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, quoting passages from Tolkien’s works to honour Hill’s memory. One fan shared the emotional farewell of Merry to King Theoden, echoing the sentiments of many who mourn the loss of a beloved actor. We offer our deepest condolences to Bernard Hill’s friends and family. May they have the strength to get through this difficult time.
