With each album or single release, singers would often change up their image to better represent their latest project. However, not every new look will be well received by fans and that’s the current situation with singer Aizat Amdan.
On Sunday (22nd October), the 34-year-old performed on stage as the opening act for Yuna’s YUNAVERSE concert and here’s why fans have been comparing him to UK singer Sam Smith:

In a video posted by Aria Putera Kamal on TikTok, the musician was seen performing on stage while wearing a bright blue sleeveless shirt, golden necklace, silver knee-length shorts and a silver corset. From the post above, we can see that he even dyed his hair blonde.
It was understood that the Malaysian artist was performing as his other musical persona Ai. Z for the show. Fans who have been following the former “Akademi Fantasia” participant’s journey as Ai. Z weren’t necessarily too surprised but those who were not aware of his alter ego were shocked by the stage outfit he wore after the TikTok post went viral.
Many compared him to Sam Smith as he is known to dress in a similar (but more provocative) way. Many also showed concern for the “Use Me” singer saying that his stage outfit was too feminine and/or queer, with a few pointing out that he was wearing earrings and nail polish.
Aizat or Ai. Z has not commented on what netizens have been saying about his latest performance. He did, however, post a video of the show where he encouraged members of the audience to offer their thoughts and prayers for the people of Palestine.
Perhaps the message was there all along, that there are other and more important things to worry about than an artist’s image. What do you think?
