Nickelodeon recently announced a shocking revelation on its social media account over the weekend.
The children’s channel came up with a post in conjunction with Pride Month. In this case, Spongebob Squarepants was also included in the update, hinting at his queer identity which has been the topic of discussion among fans.

Besides the popular cartoon character, the update also featured Korra from “The Legend Of Korra”, who identified herself as bisexual and also Michael D. Cohen’s Schwoz Schwartz character in “Henry Danger”. The Canadian actor was reportedly born as a female, and his transition went public in 2019.
As for Spongebob’s case, Nickelodeon did not specifically mentioned whether the animated sponge is gay or not. However, a lot of netizens have been giving rave remarks regarding the matter. Some even commented the fact that Spongebob’s gay identity does not surprise them at all! Check out some of their comments here:

Seemingly to avoid from conflicting remarks from netizens, Nickelodeon then decided to turn off the comments section. But as at time of writing (Monday, 15th June), the comments has been re-opened to the public.
