It’s been worth the wait, skincare fam! Following eight years of curiosity, experimentation and determination, Aesop’s has dropped its first cream cleanser for the body.
Created with the same efficacy-led approach taken with the brand’s Skin Care products, Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser’s richly sensorial formula is the result of never taking shortcuts or following the easy path. It’s a distinctly gentle formulation, enriched with emollients as well as botanicals renowned for their purifying properties. It leaves even dry skin feeling soft, supple and refreshed – imparting a woody, spicy, herbaceous aroma along the way.
Texturally distinct from Aesop’s gel cleansers, this emulsion-based formulation develops into a delicate lather that glides across the body, leaving even dry or dehydrated skin soft, supple and refreshed. Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser was fine-tuned at Aesop’s Melbourne laboratory.
The ambition was to create a body cleanser with a rich, comforting texture that would effectively refresh the skin, while also leaving it hydrated and replenished – a difficult balance to strike. The company’s scientists spent many months carefully blending oils and surfactants into an emulsion base, while ensuring its stability and cream-like texture. Many trials – and a few errors – later, the desired outcome was realised.
Aesop’s Director of R&D, Samy Hamada, says of the formulation: ‘Our experience in developing face cleansers tells us that drier skin types require non-disruptive, non-aggravating but nonetheless efficient cleansing containing mild surfactants alongside generous measures of emollients and hydrating ingredients.
“For many years we have harboured a desire to offer such nurturing, emulsion-based cleansing to the whole body, and following much experimentation we are able to realise that ambition with Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser.”
Intended for daily use, Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser is enriched with emollients including SheaButter, Jojoba Seed and Tocopherol (Vitamin E).
It is also enhanced with botanicals renowned for their purifying properties, such as Cedar Atlas, Patchouli and Clove Bud. These essential oils impart a woody, spicy, herbaceous scent – both to weary bodies seeking aromatic solace, and the steamy spaces they inhabit.
To use, dispense a generous amount of Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser into the hands, then massage over wet skin before rinsing thoroughly.
For particularly dry areas – such as elbows, hands, knees and feet – in need of additional replenishment, its aromatic sibling Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm makes the perfect accompaniment.
