Relationships are hard regardless of whether they’re professional or romantic. Both sides need to put in equal effort in order to make it work. For romantic relationships, we’ve seen plenty going downhill for a multitude of reasons.
As for professional relationships, they can be just as complicated. When badminton star Lee Zii Jia (李梓嘉) and his coach Indra Wijaya went their separate ways, some assumed that they were still on good terms as the coach mentioned he respects the athlete’s decision for going solo but apparently, that may not necessarily be the case.
Speaking to local media, Lee Zii Jia’s manager, who is also his sister Lee Zii Yii, revealed that the 24-year-old national player has received a legal letter from his former coach Indra Wijaya, however, the content of the letter remains unknown to the public. “Yes, I can confirm that our lawyer has received a letter, whether it’s a letter to sue, I don’t know,” she said.
The shuttler’s manager also mentioned that they will let their legal team handle the letter and will await further instructions or advice from them on what to do next, saying that they don’t want to prolong any issues or make matters worse. While the official content of the letter has not been shared by the former World No.2’s representatives, it was rumoured that his coach is planning to sue him over breach of contract.
It was previously reported that the Indonesian coach intends to take legal action against the ace player over an alleged contract violation. It was understood that the contract signed by the 48-year-old was supposed to expire after the 2024 Paris Olympics but plans changed when the coach was unceremoniously dropped by Lee Zii Jia’s support team for reasons unspecified.
Following the two’s separation, the now-struggling athlete has suffered a string of poor performances during recent matches. At the time of writing, Indra Wijaya has neither denied nor confirmed the lawsuit speculations. The badminton star and his team have also yet to give further comment.
