Oh no, not them too!
Recently, it was revealed that new K-Pop couple JYJ’s Junsu and EXID’s Hani have gone separate ways. Their agencies confirmed that the split was due to the idols’ demanding schedules. Now, it seems that another K-Pop couple have decided to call it quits too.
In August this year, it was revealed that Block B’s rapper Zico (지코) and K-Pop idol girl group AOA’s Seolhyun (김설현) have been secretly dating. The news was leaked by Korean media outlet Dispatch and included images (that were taken in May this year) of them going on multiple dates.
Their relationship was later confirmed by Seven Seasons (Block B’s label) and FNC Entertainment (AOA’s label). Zico even rapped about the reveal during his 2016 Nike Unlimited Korea performance.
Unfortunately, it came to an end just a tad too quickly for comfort 🙁
As confirmed by Seven Seasons and FNC Entertainment, Zico and Seolhyun are no longer together. FNC Entertainment announced the split, saying, “The attention toward their relationship was too overwhelming, and they eventually drifted apart, leading to a breakup.”
Seven Seasons echoed the statement but stopped short of providing a reason for the split. The label said, “It’s true that the two have recently broken up. The reason for their breakup is unknown, and is a personal matter.”
If you asked us, it’s about time that Korean celebrities’ relationships/love lives are given less attention (read: constant scrutiny). Simply because it’s added pressure for them, which can lead to greater, more damaging consequences. Case in point, Zico and Seolhyun. But also, BIGBANG leader G-Dragon, SNSD Girls’ Generation leader Taeyeon, and former f(x) member Sulli.
