A ruptured fuel line has caused flights from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) to be delayed until tomorrow, according to AirAsia.

The low-cost airline, which operates only via klia2 in Kuala Lumpur, released an official statement via their Facebook page this evening. AirAsia said that the rupture has prevented aircraft from refuelling at all P bay gates at the airport.

The company also said that the incident occurred during maintenance work by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

As such, a total of 4,564 guests on 14 AirAsia X flights departing between 6pm today (Tuesday, 11th October) and 1am tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 12th October) will be affected.

“AirAsia X sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused.”

Meanwhile, MAHB is currently seeking advice from the operator of the fuelling aviation system on the rectification works of the ruptured fuel line. The airport operator explained that the incident happened during the scheduled pavement maintenance work at Gate P10, which affected the fuel pipeline at several aircraft parking bays at Pier P.

“Passengers may experience some inconvenience resulting from flights delays, as well as, some bussing services activation which is needed to ferry passengers to aircraft parked at remote bays. Only passengers travelling on AirAsia X are affected,” MAHB said.

“We will provide further updates as to when the situation can be resolved,” MAHB added.
