Nestled within The Exchange TRX, the first-ever Kimpton in Malaysia has officially opened its doors. Officially dubbed Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur, the 466-room hotel brings Kimpton’s signature brand of modern luxury and thoughtful design to the city. The hotel takes inspiration from Kuala Lumpur’s vibrancy, from interior design to culinary, right down to its name. Naluria is a combination of the Malay words ‘naluri’ (instinct) and ‘ria’ (joy).
“The opening of Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur represents not only a new destination for the brand – it’s a promise to deliver what we’re globally recognised for: unique properties with truly unique guest experiences to match,” said Paul Cunningham, General Manager. “From inspiring spaces and distinct dining to the brand’s human hospitality, we look forward to creating unforgettable experiences and immersive human-to-human connections that capture the very heart and soul of Kuala Lumpur.”
The interior design is headed by award-winning design studio, Hassell, who pulls inspiration from Malaysia’s rich natural landscapes. Weaving natural elements with contemporary designs, the hotel welcomes guests into a spacious, high-ceiling lobby, and lush greenery. Earthy hues, forest-green tones, and organic textures integrate seamlessly into the rest of the hotel’s interior.
The hotel offers 466 guestrooms and suites over 26 storeys, with iconic views of the city such as Merdeka 118 and KL Tower. Within the rooms and suites, monolithic surfaces, sinuous forms and abstract art of Malaysian rainforests are featured alongside leaf-shaped mirrors and gilded bathroom design, all complemented with luxury bath amenities from ARgENTUM and Penhaligon’s.
In true Kimpton style, the hotel features standout dining and social spaces, quickly set to become locally-loved favourites. Guests can enjoy farm-to-table, fermentation-driven food at Tuai + Till. Meanwhile, think cosy Malaysian cafe at Tuai and elegant Western brasserie at Till. Four Siblings, Malaysia’s first spice-themed bar and only rooftop bar in TRX, is inspired by the historic spice trade, and the four essential spices – cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and star anise. If one would like to grab a cuppa on-the-go, there’s Rise & Grind, an espresso bar that embraces coffee artistry while honouring the local Kopitiam culture. Sabato, on the other hand, offers Italian-American menus.
The hotel also houses five event spaces, while offering facilities like a fitness centre, dedicated yoga terrace, and an infinity pool, with panoramic views from the rooftop. Additionally, guests can enjoy Kimpton’s signature touches including in-room yoga mats and complimentary bikes for city exploration.
