Multi award-winning singer and current coach of “The Voice” Kelly Clarkson has been tapped by NBC to host her first ever award show – the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
The three-hour long annual award show will take place on Sunday, 20th May 2018 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and is set to be aired on NBC channel for the first time.
“Kelly Clarkson has long been a Billboard chart phenomenon and has a firsthand understanding of what matters most in music today,” President of Alternative and Reality Group at NBC, Paul Telegdy said in a statement.
“Her enthusiasm for all genres of music and her innate sense of humour will make for a truly memorable night,” he continued.
Clarkson, who won the first “American Idol” commented, “To prepare for hosting the ‘Billboard Music Awards’, I already have 20 costume changes planned.”
“I will be flying in like my girl P!nk, and calling in Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman for jokes. Well, or I’m just gonna show up and celebrate my favourite artistes and get to know a few more. Yeah, maybe I’ll go with that plan,” she added.
The full nominees for the 2018 edition of the award show has been announced. Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Kendrick Lamar are leading the list with 15 nominations each. Check it out.
