While the idea of remaking a cult classic sounds a little unconvincing, we wouldn’t mind it if the remake is in good hands.
Now, we have another reason to believe that the “Jumanji” remake could actually be a good film because according to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Rosenberg is on board to pen the script.
“Jumanji” is a 1995 American fantasy adventure film that was directed by Joe Johnston and written by Greg Taylor, Jonathan Hensleigh, and Jim Strain. It is the film adaptation of the 1981 children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg.
In this movie, a 12-year-old kid named Alan Parrish becomes trapped in a board game while playing with his best friend Sarah Whittle in 1969. 26 years later, the now-adult Alan was unwittingly released by siblings Judy and Peter Shepherd who find the game and begin playing it. After tracking down Sarah, the quartet resolve to finish the game in order to undo all of the destruction it has caused.
The film was one of Robin Williams‘ most popular films before he passed away last year. It also starred Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde, and Bebe Neuwirth.

Rosenberg is the writer behind 80s hit films such as “Con Air” and “Gone in 60 Seconds”. He is attached to work on the script for the “Jumanji” remake.
Jeff Pinkner, who co-created CBS’s “Zoo” with Rosenberg, is on board to consult on the project that will be devloped by Sony Pictures. Both Pinkner and Rosenberg are also the partners of their Midnight Radio production banner.
