One of our favourite services nowadays are delivery services. What’s not to like? They can deliver (almost) anything to you, for a price, of course. However, most people think it’s a fair exchange.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t always hold true. This netizen certainly disagrees. They got a nasty shock when their RM4.91 Milo drink from McDonald’s shot up to RM19.50, thanks to additional charges.

The netizen posted their horrific purchase on TikTok, garnering 385,100 views. Their video showed a receipt, purchasing a small iced Milo. From the receipt, it’s apparent that the TikTok user is from Muar, Johor. The Milo’s original price was RM4.91. However, the delivery service apparently added extra charges. After adding everything up, their total came up to RM19,50.

“They’ve planned this for a while, we were careless,” the TikTok user bemoaned. Netizens were quick to leave their thoughts about the matter. One observed that there was a minimum order fee. “Buying less (than the minimum order) will get the charge,” they stated. Another clarified that purchases needed to be over RM10.

Additionally, some comments pointed out that ordering during peak hours meant a higher price. “During that time, everyone will be using the food delivery service. Avoid ordering if it’s not urgent,” they advised. A few did the TikTok user one better. “If you’re only buying a small iced Milo, make it yourself or ask your neighbour to make it (for you),” they wrote. The user laughingly responded that McDonald’s Milo tasted good.

As it turns out, this netizen wasn’t the only one to have undergone such a scare. Some comments admitted to having made purchases without checking their price. “Oops, I too have ordered McDonald’s ice cream on a whim…” one said.

Guess that goes to show how used to we are to ordering things online. Well, it’s certainly a wake up call! Do remember do double check your purchases before hitting that “buy” button. Check out the vid here:
