To many, Jay Chou (周杰倫) and Hannah Quinlivan (昆凌) are the epitome of a happy couple, always showing their love for each other. However, fans were recently sent into a frenzy after a photo allegedly showing Hannah hinting at her husband’s infidelity went viral.
It all started when a Weibo post dated 4th January – allegedly from Hannah’s official account – accused Jay of cheating. The post wrote, “The world will not be shrouded in darkness and deception forever. The sun will eventually shine on the earth and drive away the dark clouds. I don’t want to live another day like this. Mr. Zhou, do you think the truth about the disgusting things you and your disgusting friends did will never be revealed one day?”. The post was even tagged with #/JayChouCheated and #/JayChouMultiplayerSports, which added to the allegations of infidelity.
According to reports, Hannah immediately deleted the post – but a screenshot of the post was subsequently uploaded onto social media, causing chaos amongst the fans. Many were shocked by the allegations while others remained sceptical as fans noted the couple are currently vacationing in London with their family. One fan also pointed out that Hannah hasn’t been active on Weibo since the start of the new year.
In response, Hannah’s agency issued a statement through her Weibo account, refuting the rumours of Jay cheating. The statement clarifies that the screenshot is a forged post using Hannah’s name and Weibo account to spread misinformation. The agency stated that the content was purely fictitious and that they would take legal action regarding the matter. Jay’s agency also reposted the statement, jointly refuting the allegations.
In addition to the statement, Jay indirectly shut down the rumours by posting about his London trip with his wife. Through his Instagram Stories, the singer shared images of the two blissfully travelling in London with some friends and family. The photos also show Hannah comfortably standing by his side and walking with him, which seems to many as the celeb indirectly refuting the allegations of a broken marriage.
It’s good to hear that the rumours are just rumours. Guess fans can rest easy now, knowing the couple are still happily in love.
