James Corden Talks About Malaysia Banning “Despacito” On His Show

Late night talk show host James Corden, who is known for his “Carpool Karaoke” segments and for being a multi-talented all-round funny guy (read: comedian), mentioned Malaysia in passing during his “The Late Late Show with James Corden” yesterday.

In a short segment of “The Late Late Show with James Corden”, he looked at a roundup of stories including a new research showing that the sperm count in men have declined, a Texas company recalling coffee with Viagra-like substance, law enforcement officers fining a 5-year-old girl for running a lemonade stand, and Malaysia banning “Despacito”.

“Despacito”, which features the vocals of Justin Bieber, topped the charts of 45 countries and reached the top 10 of 9 others, making it both Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s most successful single to date. It became the first song primarily in Spanish to top the Billboard Hot 100 since “Macarena” (Bayside Boys Mix) in 1996.

About 2 weeks ago, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) banned “Despacito” from the government-owned Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) TV and radio channels with immediate effect after a public complaint was reviewed by RTM’s panel.

What did James Corden have to say about the ban?
