To motorists who frequently pass by Dataran Merdeka, you may want to consider an alternative route as Jalan Raja will be closed for at least 1 month, starting tomorrow (Wednesday, 15th November).
Bernama reported that Jalan Raja will re-open next month, on 16th December (Saturday).
The Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department explained that the road closure was to ensure a smooth flow of visitors to the 2017 Negaraku Expo. The 1-month event – which is intended to promote patriotism – is free.
“The public using this road are advised to find alternative routes to get to their destinations,” reads the statement by the department. Therefore, road users are advised to make use of public transportation (such as LRT, MRT, and the monorail).
