Over the past year, many international acts have performed in Malaysia, including some for the first time. There are also artists who haven’t performed a show in our humble country, like Canadian R&B artist The Weeknd. However, that might change soon.
A Twitter user named Om (@/xallehrazax) recently shared the announcement of The Weeknd’s rescheduled Australia leg of his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour. Many local music fans may recognise Om as a fellow music lover who is active on social media. However, he’s also known as an insider in the industry, having shared information about upcoming concerts in Malaysia. His tweet about the tour garnered attention as it seemingly hints at a potential The Weeknd concert in Malaysia.

Om first wrote about the shows, saying, “Do you think The Weeknd will make a stop in Malaysia?”. He then reposted the post with another tweet that wrote, “Early next year?”. In both tweets, Om included the eye emoji, commonly used to hint at something. This led many netizens to assume that Om’s tweets weren’t just mere questions but a hint that the R&B star might hold a concert in Malaysia next year. While unconfirmed, many fans have already shown excitement about the tweets, hoping it would be true.
If you’re wondering, the “After Hours Til Dawn” tour is an ongoing tour that started in 2022. The tour previously faced a few issues with the Australia leg, with dates cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. However, The Weeknd recently revealed that he will still perform in the country later this year, albeit at two cities rather than the earlier scheduled four. The tour never announced dates for any Asian cities as of yet but there were rumours that several Southeast Asian countries were part of the tour.

Unfortunately, we can’t confirm nor deny that The Weeknd is coming to Malaysia – but we’re sure he has many local fans eager for some good news. What are your thoughts about this?
