A surprising number of Hong Kong stars have been visiting our shores lately, from the cast of an upcoming drama to Nicholas Tse (谢霆锋) and Priscilla Wong (黃翠如). Actress Anita Yuen (袁咏仪) is also one of the stars currently in Malaysia to film a new project – but is her husband Julian Cheung (张智霖) also in the country?
For those unaware, the actress is currently in Malaysia to film for her first locally produced movie, “Mom’s Big News (OMG! 阿妈有喜)”. Anita landed in Kuala Lumpur earlier this week and has posted about her stay so far and photos from the press conference of her upcoming movie. However, during said press conference, Anita was asked whether her husband Julian would come down to Malaysia to visit her on set.
In response to the question, the 53-year-old answered, “It depends whether he has a day off. He has a lot of work to do.” Despite her answer, some sharp-eyed netizens have discovered that Julian could be in Malaysia! The actor recently shared a video on his Weibo account to promote the latest episode of his show, “Captain Season”. However, some fans noted that his location on the post was marked “Malaysia”.
Some Chinese fans were understandably confused about why the star would be in Malaysia before others explained that Julian could be in town to accompany his wife. Unfortunately, we can’t confirm whether Julian is indeed in Malaysia at the moment or if he was only here for a few days. However, according to reports, the filming for Anita’s movie will take 16 to 18 days, so she’ll be here until the end of the month.
Interestingly, this wouldn’t be the first time the loving couple have accompanied one another on a work trip in Malaysia. Last year, when Julian was in town for a joint concert, some fans spotted Anita during the stars’ arrival at the airport. Her low-profile appearance led many to coo over the couple’s close relationship despite being together for over 20 years.
Whether Julian is still in town or if he’s back to work in Hong Kong and China, we hope the couple had a great time in Malaysia together. At the same time, we hope Anita has a smooth and successful filming for her new movie!
