International schools have always been coveted centres of learning among the populace. Unfortunately, earlier today (21st November) international schools within the Klang Valley area, Selangor and Penang received bomb threats.

Local police have since confirmed the threats and have taken action to secure the schools. However, nothing has been found so far. Still, official reports claim the police are still investigating the issue.

According to a notice leaked online, at approximately 9:30 am to 10:15 am, several international schools in Malaysia received an anonymous email suggesting a bomb threat. To ensure the safety of the students and teachers, the schools affected were immediately evacuated, with notices being sent out to parents requesting them to pick up their children.

Police later shared that a total of seven schools from Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Kajang, Subang Jaya, and Kuala Langat had been affected. Two more from Wangsa Maju added to the total. It was later confirmed that two schools in Penang had also received an anonymous email, with one school believed to be in Tanjung Bungah as students had been spotted evacuating the building.

At the moment, it is confirmed that schools affiliated with the ISP Group, such as the Asia Pacific Schools were affected. One parent who was collecting her child from an Asia Pacific School later told China Press that they had not initially been informed about the bomb threat. They only found out about it after arriving at the school and asking the teachers.

Selangor police have since stated that bomb squads have swept the schools in the area and confirmed that nothing suspicious was found. In fact, reportedly, some of the schools were reopened. Police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan also stated that they believe it to be a hoax.

However, police in the affected areas have reported that they are still investigating the issue. Reportedly, they claim they will be issuing an official statement on the incident soon.
