With the new year, we’ve been getting loads of good news from celebrities – from marriage to new family members. Of course, Korean celebrity couples are no exception – and fans have been hoping that their favourite star couple ring the wedding bells in 2024. As part of their Year-Round Plus television special, South Korean broadcasting station KBS have chosen which K-celeb couples are most likely to get married – or at least announce an engagement – this year.
Choi Soo-Young and Jung Kyung-Ho
Taking first place on the list are Girls’ Generation member-turned-actress Choi Soo-Young (수영) and actor Jung Kyung-Ho (정경호). 34-year-old Soo-Young and 41-year-old Kyung-Ho have been dating for over a decade – and fans are unsurprisingly looking forward to the two walking down the aisle together. Despite the busy schedules, the two often go on cafe and shopping dates, according to fan anecdotes.
Lee Jung-Jae and Im Se-Ryung
The second couple is 52-year-old actor Lee Jung-Jae (이정재) and his partner, 47-year-old Im Se-Ryung (임세령), who he has been dating since 2015. Jung-Jae is most notable for his award-winning role in “Squid Game” and often seen as his plus one on the red carpet is his businesswoman girlfriend Se-Ryung, who is the heiress to one of South Korea’s largest conglomerates, Daesang Group. The couple met through a mutual friend and bonded over their shared interest in the arts.
Lee Kwang-Soo and Lee Sun-Bin
Actor-and-entertainer Lee Kwang-Soo (이광수) and Lee Sun-Bin (이선빈) have also made the list and have been dating since 2018. Despite keeping a low-key relationship, the couple aren’t quiet about their affection either. When the actress turned 30 on 7th January, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that 39-year-old boyfriend Kwang-soo immediately liked her birthday post on Instagram. Sun-Bin has also reacted positively to questions about marriage, saying she’ll share any future wedding announcements.
Kim Woo-Bin and Shin Min-Ah
A couple since 2015, Kim Woo-Bin (김우빈) and Shin Min-ah (신민아) also make the top 5. The 34-year-old actor and 39-year-old first met each other on set for an advertisement during their modelling days. They have remained steady throughout the years, even during Woo-bin’s cancer treatment. Friends and fans noted that the couple is not just good-looking but also have hearts of gold, given that both are active in philanthropy.
Jung Ho-Yeon and Lee Dong-Hwi
Last on the list are model-turned-actress Jung Ho-Yeon (정호연) and actor Lee Dong-hwi (이동휘), who have also been dating since 2015. Despite the nine-year age gap, 30-year-old Ho-Yeon and 39-year-old Dong-Hwi have similar tastes in movies, music and fashion. Fans even spotted the two on movie and concert dates.
While it may seem like a mere prediction list, KBS was right that Se7en would pop the question to long-time girlfriend Lee Da-Hae in 2023 – so let’s hope their predictions will come true again this year!
