(UPDATE) Hype’s Must Watch: Finding Dory

Dory the forgetful regal blue tang fish from “Finding Nemo” finally remembered something “important” from her past!

She doesn’t remember what she remembered, but she will “just keep swimming” and set out on a quest that she probably won’t remember in “Finding Dory”.

Finding Dory

“Finding Dory”, the animated sequel to “Finding Nemo”, centres on the origins of Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres). It takes place 6 months after the events in the first movie and its first official trailer has just been released.

The video opens with Nemo the clown fish (voiced by Hayden Rolence) wakes and finds Dory sleep-swimming after muttering, “Don’t cry, mommy. Don’t cry.” Seconds after Nemo’s father Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) bring Dory back to her sleeping spot, they find her sleep-swimming again.

When Dory wakes up the next morning, she asks Marlin, “I remembered something! That’s not possible, is it?” As she stares into the blue void of the ocean, it hits Dory that she has a family in California and she needs to get there to see them again.

Though Marlin is reluctant to help her, he decides to accompany her for another death-defying quest in the ocean.

Dory

Earlier in August, fans of the original film caught a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel when the filmmakers showed them the same clip at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.

DeGeneres herself took the stage to excitedly announce the new cast members for the sequel. It was revealed that Ed O’Neill is voicing Hank the cantankerous octopus while Ty Burrell and Kaitlin Olson are voicing Bailey the misguided beluga whale and Destiny the kind-hearted whale shark respectively. Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy will voice Jenny and Charlie, Dory’s parents who are stuck in a facility in Monterey, California.

Original “Nemo” voice actor Alexander Gould is not returning to the film as producer Lindsey Collins explained that he is now 21 years old. Thus, his role has now been replaced by newcomer Hayden Rolence.

UPDATE (3rd March):

An adorable new trailer for “Finding Dory” has been released and it reveals more about the upcoming animated film than ever before while quickly summarising what it will be about. We also get to meet some of the new sea characters in the trailer, namely the a chameleon octopus (voiced by Ed O’Neill) and an enthusiastic whale shark (voiced by Kaitlin Olson).
