Who’s up for a purr-ry adventure?

Olivier Award-winning actor Luke Treadaway (from “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”) will be playing James Bowen in the upcoming British drama film, “A Street Cat Named Bob”.

Did we mention that the movie will also star Bob the cat as himself? 😉

The novel-turned-movie is based on James Bowen’s bestselling book of the same name and it tells the true story of friendship between a London-based street musician/recovering drug addict and his adorable ginger cat. “A Street Cat Named Bob” has sold over 1 million copies in the UK alone and it ranked #7 in the New York Times best-seller list.

James Bowen found a wounded stray ginger cat in the hallway of his building at Tottenham, London. At first, the busker tried to look for the cat’s owner but when he couldn’t, he set it free, hoping it can find its way home. Instead, the cat began following James around and he decided to take him in, naming it Bob after a character from “Twin Peaks”.

Helmed by veteran Canadian director Roger Spottiswoode (from “Tomorrow Never Dies” and “The 6th Day”), Tim John and Maria Nation penned the script for the heartwarming movie, which was mainly filmed in Convent Garden, London.

The film also stars Ruta Gedmintas (from “The Tudors”) as Belle, Bowen’s animal loving neighbour; Joanne Froggatt (from “In Our Name) as Val, Bowen’s drug support worker; and Anthony Head (from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) as James’ father.
