“K-pop Demon Hunters” is still fresh in many people’s minds—and so is its music. Nearly two months after release, the film’s soundtrack has remained at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Soundtracks chart for seven consecutive weeks, solidifying its place not just as a film score but as a major force in the music industry.
Only a month ago, Saja Boys‘ “Your Idol” landed at #77 on the Hot 100, and now it’s the girls’ time to shine. The ongoing success of the movie’s soundtrack shows it’s more than just a film companion—it’s a force with momentum that isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

“Golden” is one of the most recognisable songs from the fictional girl group HUNTRI/X, second only to the explosive opener “Takedown.” The second track featured in the film reveals a more personal, emotional side of the characters before their transformation into demon hunters. Its lyrical vulnerability and cinematic sound have resonated deeply with audiences, helping the song gain traction beyond the film.
On 11th August (Monday), Billboard announced that “Golden” had officially hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. A big milestone as it’s the first time in nearly 24 years that a girl group has topped the chart, with Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious” being the last to do so in 2001. “Golden” also becomes the ninth K-pop-associated track to reach the #1 spot—an impressive feat for a fictional group born from an animated feature.

Additionally, it’s also the first time since Disney’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from “Encanto” (2021) that a song from a fictional or animated background has reached the top of the chart. With “Golden,” “K-pop Demon Hunters” becomes the first non-Disney animated film to accomplish such a feat, cementing two historic milestones in one release.
More than just a chart victory, this marks a shift in how audiences engage with storytelling, music, and fandom. “K-pop Demon Hunters” has blurred the lines between fiction and reality, showing that a fictional girl group can move real-world charts and hearts. With fans treating HUNTRI/X like a real idol group, “Golden” has become more than a song—it’s a cultural moment.
