Another week, another whirlwind of totally EXTRA events! We were here, there and everywhere!
We geeked out at Comic Fiesta 2023, fangirled over Tony Leung during The Goldfinger Tour, and MUCH, MUCH more. We were on the scene, and vibing like a boss! Just check out our social diary for this past week (don’t be jelly!):
‘The Goldfinger’ Tour With Tony Leung
Legendary actor and star of ‘The Goldfinger’ Tony Leung, director cum writer Felix Chong, and producer Ronald Wong were in KL recently for a string of promotional events, which included a press conference and media interviews at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur. The trio was in good spirits, responding to media queries on the making of their highly-anticipated crime blockbuster:

The three also graced the gala premiere red carpet event at The Exchange TRX. Fans jostled for a good spot along the glamourous 300-metre red carpet to witness the grandeur of the event. The trio, who arrived in a fleet of luxurious vehicles, made a brief appearance at the drop-off area before making their way to the remarkably grand staircase. They then moved on to the ultra- prestigious, soon-to-be launched Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX for the movie’s gala premiere screening:

Comic Fiesta 2023
Malaysian Otakus gathered at the biggest anime/cosplay event of the year, Comic Fiesta 2023! The 2-day event at the KL Convention Centre saw everyone dressed up as their favourite anime and video game characters! Fans got to check out all the amazing exhibitions, participate in fun activities, and meet their favourite actors and cosplayers!
The convention was also blessed with the appearance of talented Japanese artists, ASCA and Mikiha of spira spica, who also performed live in concert on the second day at Plenary Hall. If you missed out on the thrilling weekend, don’t worry, as Comic Fiesta is an annual event – so be sure to secure your tickets for next year! Anyway, here’s what went down during the event:

ANIMENIA 2024 Press Conference
Even if you’ve never watched an episode of popular anime series, or aren’t even a fan of the genre, you must’ve at least heard some of their theme songs. The opening and closing tracks are part of what make an anime so memorable – and what better way to appreciate the soundtrack than to hear it being performed live in concert?
We recently attended the ANIMENIA 2024 press conference, which took place at Sungei Wang Plaza. With significant funding from My Creative Ventures, and the complete support of the Ministry of Communications & Digital, ANIMENIA 2024 is set to be staged at Jio Space in Petaling Jaya on 3rd and 4th February, 2024. The anime-themed orchestral concert and cosplay gathering event is expected to be one of the most notable events of 2024! Here’s what took place at the exciting press conference:

Huawei’s New Flagship Store At The Exchange TRX
Huawei recently celebrated the grand opening of its flagship Huawei Experience Store at The Exchange TRX. The space presents a unique, first-of-its-kind in the world design, creating a comfortable atmosphere that invites consumers to explore products in a spacious and cozy setting, offering an educational experience to enhance understanding of Huawei products. Interactive weekly classes and workshops will take place in the Discover HUAWEI Area, covering a range of topics from smartphones and tablets to laptops and wearables.

Haier’s Inspire Future Dreams 2023
We were at One World Hotel for Haier’s 2023 Media Engagement event, and everything was amazingly eye-opening. From washing machines to TVs, Haier offered a preview of several lines of home appliances and consumer electronics set to debut in 2024.
Local badminton legends Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik were also present for a contract signing, ensuring that they are Haier Malaysia ambassadors for another year. Haier has had a massive mean streak this year, with back-to-back releases, and it looks like they are preparing to keep it going in the coming years.

First Taste Of Icon Brewings’ New Dessert
Best known for their tasty strudels, Icon Brewings – a local cafe located near Cheras Leisure Mall – was our top gastronomic stop of the week. Aside from tasting their seasonal strudels (priced at RM24 each), we were introduced to a brand new dessert – the Sweet Corn pastry, which isn’t even out on the menu yet! Similar to their other strudels, the Sweet Corn pastry has a pleasant, creamy taste. The flakes were a little hard, but they added some crunchiness to the overall experience.
