HOYA Expands A Million Visions With Free Kids’ Eye Exams This World Sight Day

Kids today spend more time on TikTok than in the playground—and our eyes are paying the price. Experts predict that by 2050, half the world’s population will be myopic. In Malaysia, that means more children are squinting at school whiteboards, complaining of headaches, or struggling in silence with blurry vision.

In conjunction with World Sight Day 2025, HOYA Malaysia is sounding the alarm and offering a solution. The brand is rolling out its nationwide campaign, “A Million Visions”, to make eye care more accessible and raise awareness about the importance of early detection.

Free Eye Exams Across Malaysia

From 16th to 22nd October 2025, parents can bring their children aged 5 to 12 for free eye examinations at more than 800 participating Eye Care Professional Optical Stores nationwide. The goal? To make early detection the norm, not an afterthought.

“Too many children are missing out on early eye care due to awareness, access, and cost,” shared Lew Chee Quin, Managing Director of HOYA Malaysia. “This initiative helps families take the first step in safeguarding their children’s vision by collaborating with certified optometrists across the country.”

Smarter Lenses for a Growing Problem

Beyond free screenings, HOYA is spotlighting its MiYOSMART lenses—clinically proven spectacle lenses designed to slow down the progression of myopia in children. Developed using D.I.M.S. technology and backed by extensive research, these lenses are already trusted by eye care professionals around the world.

New this year is the MiYOSMART Coating Smooth Touch Xtreme (STX), a breakthrough lens coating made for the way kids really live: running around, wiping glasses on shirts, and exploring without pause. The STX coating helps lenses stay clear for longer, resist smudges and scratches, and remain easy to clean—making it easier for children to wear them consistently, which is key to effective myopia management.

Making Myopia Care More Accessible

To further support families, HOYA has also introduced the MiYOSMART Early Control Subsidy, offering an instant RM350 discount on MiYOSMART myopia control lenses. It’s part of the brand’s mission to break down barriers and make advanced eye care more affordable to Malaysian households.

Myopia isn’t just about “stronger power” or “thicker glasses”—severe cases can lead to serious eye diseases later in life. With screen time on the rise, now’s the time to take children’s vision seriously, and in the spirit of World Sight Day, HOYA Malaysia is reminding us that eye health deserves the same attention we give to nutrition, vaccinations, or school grades because clear sight equals a clearer future.

Free eye exams for kids are happening 16th–22nd October at over 800 optical stores nationwide—find out more at hoyavision.com/my.
