When you’re a celebrity, there is often a spotlight on your friendship – and any possible fallout. Following rumours that their decades-long friendship has been strained, Hong Kong stars Alan Tam (谭咏麟) and Natalis Chan (陈百祥) appeared in new photos together, seemingly having made up.
On 23rd August 2025 (Saturday), HK singer Alan Tam celebrated his 75th birthday with a gathering with friends and family. Among those who attended the event were the stars’ celebrity friends, like Eric Tsang (曾志伟) and Anthony Chan (陈友). However, the individual who garnered the most attention with his appearance was actor and comedian Natalis Chan, with whom Alan was rumoured to have had a feud.
Last year, there were rumours that Alan and Natalis had a falling out because of a disagreement about their celebrity football team. According to insiders, the discord was fueled by Natalis splitting the Hong Kong All-Star Football Team to set up a new one. The stars of the football team, which included Felix Wong (黄日华) and Law Kar-ying (羅家英), were then asked to choose which side they wanted to support, causing tension between Alan and Natalis.
The feud lasted for months, and even when the two attended the same wedding banquet, they had little to no interaction and maintained a distance. Since the long-time friends are often described as close as brothers, the sudden tension sparked concern amongst the public. While the two never addressed the alleged feud, fans were hoping they would mend their friendship.
In one of the photos that Alan posted from his birthday gathering, the star looked cheerful as he posed beside Eric and Natalis, with wine glasses in their hands. The trio also took another photo when Alan was preparing to cut his birthday cake. Alan stood in the middle, his arms stretched out and two thumbs raised, showing his happy demeanour. Many took the photos as a hint that Alan and Natalis had resolved their rift.
In the comments, fans cheered over the end of the year-long rift, expressing joy that the two have returned to being good friends. We’re also glad that Alan and Natalis were able to amend their friendship, and we hope they’ll put their past behind them.
