While celebrities try to maintain a clean image, there have been instances of them getting caught in the act for unruly behaviour. Recently, Hong Kong actor Nick Cheung (張家輝) was spotted arguing with a man over a taxi in Hong Kong – but is there more to the story?
Earlier this week, a video surfaced on social media, depicting the actor on the streets of Hong Kong. As he was about to hop into a taxi, a man in a grey shirt reached out to the door handle, seemingly trying to “steal” the ride. However, Nick quickly grabbed the man’s hand and the two began a brief argument on the street while several passersby looked on. After dodging an attack from the man, the actor then got in the taxi and left the scene.
There is no mention of when the video was taken or who shared it. Additionally, since the video was filmed from a distance, viewers couldn’t make out the conversation between the two men. Nevertheless, the video quickly went viral, with many netizens discussing what happened. Interestingly, some also noted that the way Nick dodged the man’s attack made the video look like a movie scene.
Soon after the video made headlines, a Threads user by the handle @/choi_san_keung shared a post on the platform to explain the situation. The post wrote, “Actually, this happened a while ago. Please don’t give me any more scorn. I usually have nightmares, not temper tantrums. Please don’t make reckless assumptions. I’m sorry (for this).” While the post may seem random to the masses, the context lies with the user.
For those unaware, @/choi_san_keung is actually Nick Cheung, who started the Threads account to promote his 2025 movie, “Peg O’ My Heart (贖夢)”. In fact, the video was shot during the filming. In the comment section of the Threads post, many fans welcomed the “return” of Choi San Keung (蔡辛強), quipping that they missed his random postings. Some also wondered if the clip going viral was a hint that Nick might reprise his role in a future project.
While it was confusing at first, it’s good to know that Nick didn’t get into an actual fight with a stranger. Check out the video below:
