For action-packed movies, the one thing everyone looks forward to are the stunts. Whether whacky or creative, it’s always a pleasure to see a good stunt played out on screen. However, as easy as it looks, we all know stunts can be very difficult.

Grace Wong Kwan Hing (王君馨) proved her dedication to acting and stunts in her most recent series. Her leading role as Ching On-na (Anna) in “The Righteous Fists (鐵拳英雄)” had demanding fight scenes. Although the Hong Kong actress proved her mettle by taking on the challenge, it left her needing physical therapy.

“The Righteous Fists” isn’t Grace’s first waltz with a series requiring martial arts. The 2016 drama “A Fist Within Four Walls (城寨英雄)” also had fight scenes. However, Grace admitted that “The Righteous Fists” has more and are extra exhausting to boot. “A lot of them involve me fighting numerous people,” she said. “It requires a lot of physical strength and (leaves me) twice as tired as last time.”

Grace didn’t take her lead role in “The Righteous Fists” lightly. She perfected her moves, both with training under the choreographers and on her own at home. In fact, she hired a private teacher and bought a dummy, named Ah Bob, to practice her kicks. Everything was done in an effort to strengthen her moves and make them look smooth and effortless.

One of the main challenges however, wasn’t just her choreography. Her character often wore high heeled shoes, which she walked and fought in. High heeled shoes can certainly elevate looks, but wearing them for too long can leave lasting damages. For Grace, fighting in high heels left her with deformed toes.

As Kung Fu heavily requires the toes to grip the ground, wearing high heels while fighting meant her toes were under constant stress while pushed together in the shoes. Grace apparently now needs physical therapy every few days to treat her condition. However, she thinks the injury is worth it as she aimed to bring her A-game for the role and make it memorable.

Unfortunately, all her effort and dedication meant nothing to the TV channel TVB. Her credit as a lead in the show was not acknowledged during promotional events. Many netizens presumed this was because Grace left TVB shortly after the shooting for the drama was finished.

However, netizens have full appreciation for her work and are enjoying her fight scenes immensely. Hopefully she heals up soon and comes back stronger than ever! Check out Grace’s training vid here:
