GOYO Review: Our Experience Visiting The Korean-Inspired Wellness Sanctuary At KLGCC Mall

GOYO brings the art of Korean head spa and wellness to Malaysia, redefining the meaning of relaxation. Located within KLGCC Mall, this 4,000 sq ft retreat is a space where serenity and self-care intertwine. Guests can indulge in a full range of Korean wellness experiences, from the first-in-Malaysia authentic Korean body scrub practice to signature Korean head spa, facial and salon services.

I had the opportunity to visit and try one of the newly opened wellness centre’s services, and was left feeling completely refreshed. Here’s a rundown of my experience and my thoughts throughout the process:

“Annyeonghaseyo!” is the first thing you’ll hear when you enter GOYO. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive when I arrived, and thankfully, I had made an appointment a couple of weeks earlier, so it didn’t take long for a therapist to be assigned to me. While waiting, I noticed how well the staff explained the services and treatments to walk-in customers who were curious about what GOYO offers. Personally, if I hadn’t already booked an appointment, I definitely would have considered making one, as everything sounded delightful and customers were clearly well-informed about the available services and any warnings relevant to certain medical conditions.

The space features a luxurious salon and hair-drying area for private grooming, a welcoming lounge for pre-session relaxation, and a dedicated head spa zone with six single rooms, two couple suites and two traditional Korean scrub rooms. I opted for the Authentic Korean Body Scrub service, and when my therapist led me to one of the rooms, I was greeted by a small but cosy changing area, which connected to the scrub room through another door. The scrub room may feel a little overwhelming at first, since it was my first time experiencing something like this, but the calming music and reassurance from my therapist quickly helped ease my nerves.

Before the 60-minute session began, my therapist explained the entire process to me, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it included a hot stone massage — something I’ve been curious to try for a long time. She then instructed me to lie on my stomach on the table. Using warm water and traditional Korean mitts, my therapist began by gently exfoliating and purifying my skin. As it was my first time, the sensation felt almost like a light massage as the scrubbing motion worked across my body. Throughout the process, she made sure to check in and ask whether I was comfortable, ensuring I felt no discomfort or irritation.

The process continued when I was asked to turn over and lie on my back to ensure my body was thoroughly scrubbed. Throughout the session, calming music played gently through the speakers, not too loud, not too soft, just enough to ease my mind as I lay there, soaking in the tranquillity. The steam also helped keep me warm during the cleansing process. Once the scrubbing was complete, it was time to rinse using the table’s overhead shower heads, as shown in the photos. The water was warm, and the pressure was just right to wash the body scrub away.

Next came the hot stone massage. After a quick hot shower, I lay back on the table on my stomach. If you’re worried about the stones burning your bare skin, there’s no need — a towel is placed on your back beforehand, allowing you to enjoy the warmth safely. The massage felt different from any I’ve had before, as it was much gentler. This is likely because the treatment focuses primarily on relaxing the muscles and improving blood circulation. Once the stones had cooled enough, but were still warm, the therapist used them to massage my back, having first removed the other stones and the towel. At one point, I dozed off, a highlight to how relaxing the massage was. As such, I can confidently say that I was thoroughly relaxed, having fallen asleep during the treatment.

Overall, it was a truly wonderful experience. Although I felt completely rejuvenated, I wished the session could have lasted longer — but alas, all good things must come to an end. If you’re looking for a way to treat yourself after a long week or month of work, I would highly recommend visiting GOYO. Whether it’s a massage, facial, or body scrub, you’ll feel the stress melt away as you surrender to the calming environment and allow the professionals to work their magic. Thank you, GOYO, for giving us this amazing opportunity!
