Get Ready For Not 1, Not 2, But 3 New “Adventure Time” Spin-Off Shows!

The title does not lie, folks. We’re going to see three new spin-off shows from the beloved Adventure Time franchise, developed by Cartoon Network Studios.

Three notable Adventure Time veterans – original showrunner Adam Muto, co-creator of “Over the Garden Wall” Patrick McHale, and “Steven Universe” creator Rebecca Sugar – are working on the “Adventure Time Movie,” which was unveiled as part of Warner Bros. Animation’s “Studio Focus” presentation. Additionally, the company announced that “Jake and Finn will embark on their greatest adventure yet” in the upcoming spin-off movie.

Cartoon Network Studios has also given the go-ahead to produce “Adventure Time: Side Quests,” an episodic children’s programme, set during Finn’s early years, when he fantasises about embarking on heroic adventures. In addition to including early iterations of beloved characters like Ice King, the series will emphasise standalone episodes over extensive story arcs. Working on this project is two-time Emmy Award-winning Adventure Time artist, Nate Cash.

On the flip side, the second episodic show spin-off is a preschool-oriented programme titled “Adventure Time: Heyo BMO,” starring the loveable sentient game console BMO. It will see the small, living game console face various challenges that are tailored to younger audiences with a group of friends. Working from behind the scenes are veteran Adventure Time storyboard artists Adam Muto and Ashlyn Anstee 

Adventure Time wrapped up back in 2018, and has since seen a few spin-offs, such as “Fionna and Cake” and even a special titled “Distant Lands Obsidian.” Through the introduction of these new series, we can happily say that we might see a genuine continuation of the story of Finn and Jake.

Much like previous articles we’ve written about on shows in the works, not much information is known about the upcoming spin-offs (until they’re leaked, of course). However, we can speculate on what to expect from these new titles.

Besides the legends working on it, we know little about the film, largely due to the fact that it’s in deep development. Nevertheless, we can speculate that it might be about Jake and his adventures, with Finn falling into a more supporting role. If you’re a fan of the franchise, or simply aware of everything related to Adventure Time, you’d remember that the “Together Again” special was about the two protagonists’ brotherhood and bond. However, if you think about it long enough, you’ll remember that the film heavily focused on Finn and his search for Jake.

Perhaps this time around, it could be an adventure that Jake will need to undertake – but what that might be is hard to tell at this moment, as most of his character development was completed with the original series finale. Alternatively, the film could be about an entirely new threat, the likes of which we have or haven’t seen before. Regardless of what it is, we just can’t wait to sit in front of the TV and watch this legendary show one more time.
