Recently, a notification letter from Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd (Gardenia KL) regarding the price adjustment of their products has gone viral. It contains the new price list of their products addressed to the retailers. Gardenia KL has also confirmed that the new price of their baked products will be effective starting this 1st September.

They explained that the company is facing post-Covid 19 challenges, such as the requirement to adhere to Malaysia’s Ministry of Health’s standard operating procedure. Furthermore, the Shah Alam flood disaster in December 2021 and the increase in the minimum wage have all had a significant impact on their operating costs.

The price increase affects some of its popular products, such as the Gardenia Original Classic and Gardenia Cream Bread. However, they retain the price of the Gardenia Bonanza Keluarga at RM2.75 for each loaf. The new price of affected products are as follows:

  • Gardenia Original Classic – RM3
  • Gardenia Wholemeal – RM4
  • Gardenia Toast ‘Em – RM5.50
  • Gardenia Twiggies – RM2
  • Gardenia Waffles – RM1.50
  • Gardenia Cream Roll – RM1.10

“As a result of a detailed review and analysis, as well as taking into account several available options, Gardenia KL has revised the retail prices for its products which will come into effect on September 1, 2022,” stated Gardenia KL. They are deeply committed to keep producing their bread despite the rise in the cost of raw ingredients too.

The price increase for Gardenia KL comes as a last resort after all efforts to maximise operational efficiency have been made.
