“Game of Thrones” season 7 may have ended, but that didn’t stop 2 super fans from living out their “GoT” moment.
Rekhaza Panji Riawan, 28, and Sista Mauli Wulandari, 27, recently threw a lavish medieval-fantasy wedding theme inspired by “Game of Thrones” and “Lord of the Rings” in Jakarta, Indonesia.
During the extravagant wedding ceremony, the couple even got to embodied their favourite characters. Riawan was dressed as King Joffrey Baratheon with an impressive sword as an accessory. Wulandari, on the other hand, looked ethereal in her floor-length cape as the Elven Queen, Galadriel. If you look closely, she even has elf ears on!
The one-of-a-kind nuptials, which took less than a year to plan, saw 600 guests, including friends and family, in attendance. According to Daily Mail, Riawan and Wulandari’s big day cost £10,000 (which is around RM56,000). “No expense was spared, but, luckily, things aren’t as expensive here as they are in the UK,” Wulandari was quoted as saying.
Wulandari, who is a brand strategist, first met her creative director husband at Binus University, west Jakarta almost a decade ago. She was majoring in marketing communication while he was studying visual communication.
“Rekhaza was my first crush in college. I thought he was much cooler and older than me when I first went to the orientation day in 2008. I didn’t have the guts to talk or even smile at him, and really forgot all about him. But then, in 2010, the universe brought us together again when we met at a college event. Thankfully, one of our friends introduced him to me and, since then we became friends and then a couple a few months later,” Wulandari recalled.
It was actually Riawan who recommended the popular HBO series adapted from George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. “Me and my husband can spend a day, a week, a month, or a year talking about ‘Game of Thrones’, and we don’t get bored at all. Rekhaza is a major fanboy and I am a complete fangirl. He introduced me to it when we first got together and I was addicted,” Wulandari revealed.
Instead of a typical wedding, the lovebird’s close friends even wore forest green elf robes and flower crowns. They also had their own army of guards clad with handmade brown robes and carrying wooden swords. While traditionally the bride would throw a flower bouquet towards a group of single ladies, the ceremony saw the groom shooting a Cupid’s arrow towards those in attendance.
