The legendary actress Dame Diana Rigg passed away at the age of 82 after being diagnosed with cancer earlier in March. She has been in the industry for more than 60 years and was well known for her role as Lady Olenna Tyrell in the hit HBO TV series, “Game of Thrones” (GOT).

Her role as the endearing yet firm matriarch of House Tyrell will forever hold a special place in fans of the famous series. The actresses death is being mourned by many, especially her fellow co-stars from the GOT TV series, which holds the Emmy awards record for winning the most awards for a scripted television series. The GOT cast members who publicly mourned the death of Diana include Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Pedro Pascal and Mark Gatiss.

The official Game Of Thrones Twitter account posted a statement in memory of the actress, which perfectly stood in line with the GOT series and what Diana meant to them. The tweet reads,

“Be a dragon. The realm will always remember Diana Rigg.”

Pedro Pascal, who played Oberyn Martell in the fourth season, also made a simple but strong statement in memory of the Emmy award winning actress and her iconic character in the GOT series. His post was published on his Instagram account along with a beautiful picture of a young Dame Diana Riggs. Pedro’s caption read: “The true queen of Westeros. #DianaSugg.”

She always raised the bar with her incredible talent, intelligence and wit. An absolute joy and honour to work with. May her soul Rest In Peace.”

The actor who played the beloved role of Samwell Tarly, John Bradley West, also made a statement on Twitter in regards to Diana’s recent passing. “Diana Rigg was just wonderful. But you all knew that already. Everybody did. Very sad news.”

Additionally, Mark Gatiss, another co-star from GOT who played the role Tycho Nestoris, tweeted a long and touching message on Diana and his experience working with her in “All About Mother”.

The British actor and comedian stated, “It was my great joy and privilege to have known Diana Rigg. From three slightly hysterical months at the Old Vic in ‘All About Mother’ to writing The Crimson Horror for Diana and her wonderful daughter Rachael. Flinty, fearless, fabulous. There will never be another. RIP”

Diana’s agent, Simon Beresford, made a public statement following the actresses death. “It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Dame Diana Rigg died peacefully early this morning. She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time. Dame Diana was an icon of theatre, film and television.”

Diana was a recipient of the esteemed Emmy, Bafta, Tony and Evening Standard awards. Her service to the entertainment industry was appreciated and loved by many generations. We greatly mourn her loss and extend our deepest sympathies towards her family and friends.
