Malaysia’s National Covid-19 immunisation programme has already started with almost 400,000 frontliners have obtained their first dose since yesterday. Curious as to what happens after completing your vaccination? Here’s what Malaysians can expect.

One of Sarawak General Hospital’s frontliner, Brian Lian, had shared a screenshot on Twitter showing his vaccination page on the MySejahtera app. The frontliner received his 2nd dose yesterday. Following that, a digital certificate has been issued to prove his vaccination process.

Looking at the checklist, Lian registered for the vaccine on 25th February. The next day, he was eligible for the vaccine. Lian also got his first dose on 26th February. He’s one of the first frontliners to receive the vaccine.

Next, the digital certificate will showcase the vaccination location as well as details of the two doses. Lian’s certificate also states the time and date of the vaccine injection with a batch number.

Lian received COMIRNATY. This is a brand of the vaccine created by Pfizer-BioNTech. These vaccines require two shots with a 21-day interval.

Malaysians aren’t only using Pfizer vaccines, but also Sinovac vaccines which require two doses as well. For Sinovac vaccines, ultra-low temperatures aren’t necessary for storage. Moreover, they have a 14-day interval between the two doses. This is shorter than the Pfizer vaccines.

The Covid-19 immunisation programme is currently in Phase 1 and will cover 500,00 frontliners first. It will end next month.

Phase 2 will begin in April until August this year, which will cover the remaining frontliners, senior citizens, chronic disease patients, and disabled individuals. Finally, Phase 3 will cover all the remaining adults starting in May 2021 until February 2022.

The vaccines are free for everyone including both Malaysians and non-Malaysians. For those who haven’t registered yet, you can visit the MySejahtera app, Malaysian’s vaccine website, or you can even dial in 1-800-888-828.
