“Squid Game 2” (오징어 게임 2) may have only recently premiered, but fans are already going crazy about season three. After director Hwang Dong-Hyuk (황동혁) confirmed that a third season is on its way, the Internet scrambled to find more details – especially given the cliffhanger end of the second season.
While Netflix continues the hype for season two – sharing exclusive content featuring the cast and crew – we’ve dug around to compile all the information we can get about “Squid Game 3″. Without further ado, here’s everything we know so far about the highly anticipated finale of this global phenomenon:
The Upcoming Season Will Wrap Up The Series

As mentioned, the third season of “Squid Game” will be the final season of this award-winning series. It will also serve as part two for the second season, answering all the questions posed by the unexpected ending. This also means that viewers will finally see the fate of the remaining players who are still alive at the end of “Squid Game 2”.
The New Season Will Feature A Time Jump

Like its predecessor, “Squid Game 3” will also feature a time jump, roughly 10-20 years into the future. Hwang Dong-Hyuk himself confirmed this detail during the press conference for season two. The director also said that the third season will be more brutal and intense whilst including some elements of humour into the mix.
A New Killer Doll Will Join The Show

Besides the players and the pink guards, another icon of the “Squid Game” franchise is the killer doll, Young-Hee (영희). As teased by Netflix, the doll will have a new “friend” in the next season – Chul-Su (철수). The two characters reference South Korean children’s stories and school textbooks, which often feature the two to teach morals and good behaviour.
Season Three Rumoured To Premiere In June

Along with releasing the official poster for season 3, Netflix accidentally announced the release date for the series. In the now-deleted post, the streaming site revealed that “Squid Game 3” will be released on 27th June 2025 (Friday). However, this date remains unconfirmed and is subject to change, so stay tuned to an official announcement from Netflix.
Leonardo DiCaprio & Tony Leung Rumoured To Make Cameos

No doubt a show as big as “Squid Game” can bring in some big names. Recently, there were rumours that Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio and Hong Kong film legend Tony Leung (梁朝偉) will make cameos in season three. Unfortunately, Netflix denied the rumours, but fans still hold on to the gossip, even saying it might lead to crazier announcements.
Since the announcement of season 3, there have been many fan theories about what will emerge, including potential new games, characters, and plot twists. Of course, all will be answered when the show premieres later this year, so look forward to “Squid Game 3”.
